Buddha Day-Vesak Festival

Buddha Day-Vesak Festival

Vesak Festival : 11am–5pm, Saturday May 13th 2017

You are invited to celebrate the birth, enlightenment & parinibbana of the Buddha at our Vesak celebration. The festivities will be conducted in English, by Adelaide’s first Theravadan Bhikkhuni, Ayya Santacārī. We aim to have a fun family day with people from many nationalities attending.

We aim to make our Vesak festivities fun for all ages. There will be plenty of activities for the whole family, including poetry recitation, face painting, lantern making and a parade. We welcome everyone to be our guests.

If you’ve never attend a Vesak celebration before, this is your chance. Vesak Festival is the most significant day in the Buddhist calendar. We will be incorporating traditions from many nationalities to make our own multicultural event.

Bring a plate of food to share. The food is first offered to the monks and nuns to bring blessings on you for your generosity. The food is then shared by everyone. After lunch some of the Buddha’s teachings will be shared in a “Dhamma Talk” followed by a short guided meditation.

Greetings,

I am Mehreen Rehman, Secretary Interfaith Harmony for Ahmadiyya Muslim Association (Women’s Auxiliary), Adelaide. I, along with my fellow female community members would like to join you at the Vesak celebration. We would love to take the opportunity to get to know each other.
However we have other commitments during the day and I was wondering if it would be okay to attend an hour’s session of your festival from 4:15 pm onwards.

Kind Regards,
Mehreen
